Magneto, or Max Eisenhardt, has had a complicated history that began with him being born in the 1920's in a German Jewish family; which lead to his whole family being killed by Nazis in a concentration camp by execution in a mass grave. Magneto survived only because of the manifestation of his powers due to his life being threatened directly. While at Auschwitz, he found a childhood friend, a Romani girl whom he fell in love with when he was younger and her name was Magada. Because of a revolt, they both escaped and moved to the Ukrainian city of Vinnytsia where they had a daughter with the name of Anya. This is also where Max develops the name "Magnus". They all lived peacefully until a mob gathered and burned down their house(with Anya still trapped inside) because of a manifestation of Magneto's power. Enraged, he killed the whole mob and a part of the city. Seeing how powerful he was and being scared of it, Magada left him.
Chapter 6: Deviance (Pg. 153)
Is a behavior, trait, belief that departs from a norm and generates a negative reaction in a particular group.
Warmonger: Magneto is the personification of deviance because he is driven to lead mutants to a world without being hunted or forced to take a cure for their gifts. Opposed by Professor X, Magneto would rather wipe out all non-mutants to preserve his "evolutionary" variation of man-kind. To the X Men, Magneto is a criminal who seeks to start a war but from Magneto's view he wants to protect the mutants who work under him in order to secure their future.
Chapter 8: Prejudice- An idea about the characteristics of a group that is applied to all members of that group and is unlikely to change regardless of the evidence against it.
Magneto would probably be considered prejudice in a very broad but simple spectrum. He looks down upon those who are not mutants and whole-heartedly believes humans are inferior. He especially dislikes humans for attempting to cure mutants both forcefully and "exclusively" as a choice to mutants. Many scenarios in the X Men franchise that have something to do with Magneto usually if not always have to due with his prejudice nature. It is clear that Magneto would be content with completely exterminating non-mutant humans.
Chapter 10: Social Institution- Systems and structures within society that shape the activities of groups and individuals.
Power- The ability to impose one's will on others.
Magneto is an imposing leader to the mutants that follow him but this is because he was shaped to oppose structure and order created by non-mutant humans. He has rallied other mutants who share in his belief that humans should not and cannot oppress mutants for their powers. This could be viewed as Ying and Yang, where there is structure and order there are those who oppose it for their own reasons. Where there are those who oppose structure there are those who want to preserve it.
Chapter 7: Social Stratification- The division of society into two groups arranged in a social hierarchy.
Magneto and Professor X have divided the overall population of mutants into two groups excluding those who want to be cured. Both of these groups are well organized by both leaders and the groups themselves attack each other constantly. However Magneto and Professor X do not attack each other directly because of their long friendship. They both discuss matters in person that prove to be more of a danger than their groups conflicts.
